On behalf of the Joint Task Force, we welcome you to our annual program and would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Task Force.

The Joint Task Force on Rehabilitation for the Injured Worker was established in 1983 to provide an educational forum and promote better communication between professionals regarding rehabilitation services for the Maryland injured worker.

The founding members recognized the Workers’ Compensation Community needed specialized knowledge and skills. The purpose and goal of the Task Force is to identify the skills and knowledge that are needed to assist and equip professionals in providing successful services for Maryland injured workers. Conferences, workshops and written material (The Good Practice Manual and other educational materials) provide the forum to present this information.

There forums bring together the Workers’ Compensation Community which includes claims representatives, physicians, rehabilitation counselors, attorneys, nurses and therapists.

For this reason the membership consists of 15 organizations and associations representing the member organization or association appoints representatives to serve on the Task Force. The Task Force is a standing committee of the Maryland Rehabilitation Association (MRA) and the Chesapeake Association of Rehabilitation Professionals in the Private Sector (CARPPS). The membership is comprised of the following disciplines/organizations:

Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS)
Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission (WCC)
Maryland Workers’ Compensation Education Association (MWCEA)

Maryland Chamber of Commerce
Attorneys representing the Plaintiff Bar
Attorneys representing the Defense Bar
Adjusters representing Insurance Claims Association
Maryland Insurance Rehabilitation Coordinators
